The Meros do Brasil Social Project is an initiative to conserve and preserve groupers, a species of fish threatened with extinction. Through educational actions, research, and awareness, the project aims to protect the natural habitat of groupers and promote the reproduction and repopulation of these animals in Brazilian oceans. The project seeks to create sustainable strategies for conserving these fish and their ecosystems through partnerships with governmental institutions, non-governmental organizations, and local communities.
Communicate playfully and objectively the life journey of groupers in their environments through a mobile panel to generate interest across different age groups. While being illustrations, the groupers needed to preserve their species’ characteristics for the viewers’ awareness, education, and recognition.
After hours of research with photos and sketches of groupers in their environments, recognizing the patterns of the species at each stage of life and the characteristics of terrestrial and aquatic flora, I began crafting the narrative that would construct the panel to showcase the transition from the mangrove waters to those of the open sea, the roots of trees that once sheltered the grouper juveniles now making way for a deep blue sea with coral reefs.
The panel expands around the car, spilling onto windows with its foliage, piquing viewers’ curiosity. Call-to-action prompts were added with QR codes to invite people to learn more about the project. Additionally, the car’s roof was adorned with the project’s name so it could be recognized from various angles.
