La Otra Forma, an award-winning animation featured in numerous festivals worldwide, is a Colombian/Brazilian production. It reflects on the standardization of the world and how people force themselves to fit into these socially predefined models.
Developing the film’s promotional poster by accentuating its narrative strengths without fully unravelling its plot instils curiosity in the viewer to discover more about the story. Solution
I began by emphasizing the information hierarchy between text and images, constructing a harmonious composition that guides the audience’s gaze and organizes all content. Since the film would be showcased at various international festivals, it was necessary to consider open areas for future seals.
The poster features a hierarchy of information, guiding the viewer’s gaze and gradually revealing details about what to expect from the animation. The prominent main characters capture attention with their expressions and forms. In the background, the campfire redirects the gaze to the animation’s title and the square moon. The chosen colours for the informational bar are earthy, creating a contrast between the sky and the ground and providing information without detracting from the overall composition.
